EU ETS Report Week 43

Overview

The Dec-26 EUA contract extended its recent recovery early in the week, that aggressive buying on Monday 12 Oct pushed prices to their highest level since the end of January 2026, as EU environment ministers debated proposed ETS reforms in Brussels. Sentiment was lifted further by confirmation that EU–UK emissions-trading linkage will be on the agenda at next month's EU–UK summit (UKAs touched similar multi-month highs the same day). Prices eased into midweek as European energy markets cooled modestly and soft US macro data weighed on risk sentiment — even as funds pushed their net-long EUA position to its largest in eight weeks. Friday was little-changed for most of the session before a roughly 70-cent slide in the final half hour pulled the market down onto a closely watched technical support level, where it settled before the weekend.
